In an era of information overload, staying focused on what truly matters is becoming increasingly difficult. Constant noise, ads, and cluttered interfaces often distract us from the core—our thoughts and ideas. That is precisely why Quint Project was created.
The first part of the name—Quint—comes from the word "quintessence" (Latin: quinta essentia—the "fifth element"), symbolizing the purest essence and the most essential component of anything. This project is designed to help you extract the most vital information, structure your knowledge, and maintain focus on what really matters.
What is Quint Project?
Quint Project is a minimalist, fast, and self-hosted tool for knowledge management. It is built to support both personal offline workflows (building your "Second Brain") and collaborative spaces for small teams.
You can create separate spaces (e.g.,
Personal, Work, Studies), add notes, categorize them into
folders and tags, and link notes together using a straightforward
[[]] syntax.
Seven Core Principles of the Project:
- Self-hosted & Complete Privacy: You deploy the project on your own infrastructure via Docker. No third-party trackers, analytics, or ads—your data belongs strictly to you.
- Local-first & Offline-ready: The application stores data on your device and works without an internet connection. It automatically synchronizes with your server as soon as you are back online.
- PWA Support: It works seamlessly across mobile and desktop platforms. You can easily install it as a standalone app on your home screen or desktop.
- Team-Ready Mode: An instance administrator can manage spaces and invite users with read-only or read-write permissions. Upon initial login, the system securely prompts the user to change their password.
- Effortless Export: You can export your space notes into a single Markdown file or a compressed ZIP archive at any time.
- True Minimalism: A clean, lightweight user interface designed entirely without visual clutter.
- Open Source: The project is fully transparent and free, published under the permissive MIT license with the source code available on GitLab.
Technical Craftsmanship
The minimalist philosophy of Quint Project extends beyond the user interface down into its codebase. The technical stack relies on Golang, SQLite, HTML, Tailwind CSS, and Vite.
Thanks to this architectural approach, a single instance consumes under 20 MB of RAM, allowing you to run it reliably on virtual private servers (VPS) with the most basic hardware configurations.
Who is it for?
Quint Project is tailored for developers, writers, researchers, and small teams who value simplicity, speed and demand 100% ownership of their data.
